COOKING CLASSES AT HOMEWORKS
Types of Classes
Free Demonstrations – Cooking events we offer to our customers at no charge. These events might be food and wine pairings, cheese tastings or a demonstration using a favorite tool or piece of cooking equimpent, such as barbeque on the Big Green Egg!
Workshop Classes – Workshops have a narrow focus and feature a cooking or baking technique (pies, cookies, bread, knife skills), or a specific course and/or mini meal (appetizers, brunch, Thanksgiving basics). Every dish may not be prepared entirely during the workshop. Some workshop elements will be explained in order to complete the class within the allotted time.
The objective of the workshop is to provide enough detailed information on the subject for those attending to feel comfortable trying it on their own. Adequate time is built into the class for questions and answers on the topic. The workshop usually includes a taste of the dishes prepared in the workshop, but not a complete meal. These are shorter in duration (usually 2 hours or less), and are typically held during store hours. Workshop classes range in price from $25-$40.
Cooking Classes, Full Menu – These classes are in a “Chef Table” format. Attendees spend the evening with a chef for the preparation of a 3 to 4 course meal. Most elements of the meal are prepared during the event. The menus for these classes are varied and might be ethnic, seasonal or technique based. The class objective is to introduce and educate those attending on different forms of cooking (braising, smoking, deep frying), to demonstrate cooking with less common ingredients, and introduce them to new flavors and international cuisines. These classes are typically held in the evening, last about 3 hours, and are priced from $65-$85.
